    Crib Sheet

I've mentioned my crib sheet in a couple of places, this is a single sheet which I have printed off and keep next to me when playing. It includes all the most important facts I need to know when playing a game: requirements for goods, most efficient production chains, population levels for buildings and so on.

I think it's reasonably self-explanatory, but bear in mind I never designed it to be shared. If anything doesn't make sense, please ask!

Although the spreadsheet itself is my work, nearly all of the numbers and the production chains came from elsewhere, mainly from the calculator, and I should say thanks to the people who did the hard work of working out that information.

There's two versions, the original Excel version and a Google Spreadsheets version.

There are a couple of places where the borders don't work properly in the transfer to google spreadsheets, I'll try and fix those along the way.

If you use the Excel it fits on a single sheet of A4/Letter paper.

Anyway, here it is, hope it helps!

    Excel:

    http://docs.google.com/filevie...RmZjIyNDM3OWJl&hl=en

    Google Spreadsheets:

    http://spreadsheets.google.com...VpDUkJpeXlHTGc&hl=en

One other note of explanation: there are a couple of places where there is a 'Required after' number in the Available/Required After column - spice for citizens (1580) and bread/beer for patricians (3300).

When your people first move up to these levels, they only need the requirements of the previous level to be happy. They don't require any of their own level goods.

However, as your population increases they will become more unhappy if you don't provide them with their 'favourite' food (and drink). This number in the table is the population level at which their happiness drops so low that it is impossible to keep them in green or yellow tax band any more and people start leaving.

It's an interesting number, if only to be aware that there is such a limit. I'm not sure it's of practical use, because if you get to 3300 patricians who are all so unhappy that their tax level is at minimum, then your bank balance will be dropping pretty quickly! - so for practical purposes you'll need to start supplying these needs long before you reach this level.

    All Anno 1404 & Venice add-on quests

I finally came around to merge the several spreadsheets I made into one mother of a quest list containing all quests of any possible quest giver
[Al Rashid, Al Zahir, Barnabas, beggar, Benedicta, Brother Hilarius, Cardinal Lucius, citizen, Constanza Zanchi, Cuno von Rembold, the emperor, envoy, Gavin Langton, Giacomo Garibaldi, Giovanni di Mercante, Guy Forcas, Hassan ben Sahid, Hekata, Helena Flores, Hildegard von Lewenstein, Ibn Al Hakim, Izmir, Karim, Leif Jorgenson, Marie d'Artois, nobleman, nomad, patrician, peasant, Richard Northbugh, the sultan & Willem van der Mark].

A lot of (but not all) info comes from the German Anno wiki and Tool1.

    All Anno 1404 & Venice add-on quests

    - Data is almost complete.
    - Translations are almost complete
    - All quest givers are in the list in alphabetical order.
    - I added additional info where possible, such as prerequisites, type of quest and notes.

You can't edit this spreadsheet, people took too many liberties with the layout so I removed that option.

Anno 1404 General, Campaign & scenarios, & Continuous

    http://translate.google.com/tr...frm%2Ff%2F7951039175

If you are having problems with it not translating everything the first time. What I do is come out of what thread that I'm in and go back in and most of the times it is all in English. The translator sometimes doesn't translate everything the first time. But this still very good info on the German side.

Thanks to Morf1961 for these support site.

You can I ask those of you who are also experiencing problems to log in with Ubi support? It's pretty straightforward, just go to this link and pick 'ask a question'. Your login from this forum will work on there as well. After that it's straightforward, note that there is no category for Anno 1404, you'll have to report it as 'Dawn of Discovery' (the US name for the game).

Here are some things that can help speed up they computers.

    1. Right click on My Computer. Then click on properties.

    2. Click on Advanced Tab in XP and in Vista/win7 click on Advanced System Settings

    3. Performance - Click on “settings” Tab

    4. Visual Effects - Click on Adjust for best performance.

The only thing in the list you want with a check mark is: Use Drop shadows for Icon Labels on Desktop that is only in XP in vista/win7 leave everything uncheck.

    5. Click Apply – It will change to the Classic Windows Desktop and that is OK for now.

    6. Don’t exit out of that just yet.

    7. Click on the Advanced Tab

    8. Virtual Memory – Click on Change Tab.

    9. Uncheck Auto Manage page file size - then click on “custom size”

In XP you set the initial size “3000” – Maximum Size “4092” – Click “Set” Tab.

In Vista/win7 you set them for any size you want. In vista it will ask to reboot the computer don’t reboot for now.

When done just click OK on everything till you are back at the Desktop

This will help with Page file memory for your computer.

I run mine at 10000 and 20000 in Vista Or Win 7.

    10. Once you are back on the Desktop right click on the screen and click on properties in XP and in Vista/Win7 click on Personalize.

XP – Click on Appearance - click on Effects and uncheck Fade Effects. Click OK.

XP – Windows and Buttons: Click Windows XP Style – Click Apply and then click OK and you are done.

Vista - Click on Windows Color and Appearance if it doesn’t come up on the Classic view then you have to click on Open Classic Appearance.

Vista/win7 - In Vista Effects don’t really have change that.

Vista - Color Scheme: Click on Windows Basic. You don’t really need Windows Aero because it only uses more memory. Click Apply and then OK and you are done.

Win7 - Color Scheme: You really need Windows Aero for all the little things to work. Look and click on the Windows 7 Icon under Windows Themes. It will change and you are done.

    11. There is another thing you can do to help is go to “run” and type in msconfig click OK. Once in there you will click on startup tab and in there you can turn things off that are using memory and running in the background at startup.

I was using the crib sheet to try to stabilize the production in a recent game and there seemed to be some misinformation in it. Several of the quantities seemed to be off a bit, with at least one being off a tremendous amount.

The wine showed needing 6 vineyards, 2 coopers, and 2 wine presses for each 1000 Noblemen. I had 5000 Noblemen, so I upped my numbers of vineyards to 30, coopers to 10, and wine presses to 10. I was maxed out on wine and supply island warehouse was overflowing and all production stalled. I deleted 12 vineyards and 3 each of the coopers and wine presses and still was maxed out with production stalling. I haven't figured out yet the right numbers for it, but hopefully will soon.

I was wondering if maybe some adjustments had been made in one of the patches.
